Taro Village in Bali is gaining recognition as a must-visit destination, situated just beyond Ubud. Recently honored by the United Nations World Tourism Organization as one of the world’s best tourism villages, Taro Village, along with other Indonesian villages, received accolades at the United National World Tourism Awards. Anticipating a surge in visitors during the festive season, Taro Village is preparing to welcome over a million tourists in December, with the majority expected during Christmas and New Year.
Chairman of the Taro Tourism Village Tourism Awareness Group, I Wayan Gede Ardika, emphasized the community’s collaborative efforts to enhance the village’s appeal for tourists. He expressed optimism about a significant increase in tourist numbers in 2023 compared to the 15,707 visitors recorded in 2022. Taro Village, along with Tampaksiring Village, Sudaji, and Pemuteran Villages, is working in partnership with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali to create comprehensive tour packages and enhance the overall tourism experience.
Ardika highlighted the importance of the collaboration for extensive promotions, aiming to boost tourist visits and ensure tangible benefits for the village communities. Taro Village offers a range of attractions and authentic homestay experiences, with Lembu Putih Farm Stay, Komang Petak Homestay, Jero Mangku Gede House, and Made Bidel Homestay providing unique accommodations run by local families.
Easily accessible from Ubud, a 40-minute drive away, Taro Village invites tourists to delve into local art, culture, and history. Various activities and workshops cater to diverse interests, from private photoshoots in traditional Balinese clothing against picturesque backdrops to adventurous options like paintball and ATV rides in the jungle. Food enthusiasts can savor classic Balinese and Indonesian dishes at local warungs like Warung Semara Ratih.
A standout experience in Taro Village is a visit to The Fireflies Garden, where guided tours offer insights into traditional agricultural practices. The ‘See Firefly’ package, featuring an early evening walk around rice paddies to witness the enchanting glow of fireflies, adds a magical touch to the village’s offerings.
