Laurent and MIO&PARTNERS.

Journey of a Real Estate Investment Expert in Bali

Originally from Martinique, Laurent Mio arrived in the archipelago 13 years ago and married one of Indonesia’s local figures. Today, he is well-versed in the culture, language, and laws of this opportunity-rich country. We met him in Bali, where he heads MIO&PARTNERS, a real estate consulting agency specializing in tailored support. With his clients, he shares his knowledge and offers expert advice for high-yield investments.

In 2008, after obtaining dual degrees in financial risk management and insurance in France, Laurent began his international adventure in Argentina and then Taiwan. His ambition was to become a trader, and his studies were geared towards a banking career. After a stint at Sanofi in France, Laurent seized an opportunity in Indonesia, joining the management committee of a group in Jakarta. This is how he discovered this promising country.

First Investments and Growing Expertise

Laurent turned to real estate to secure his financial future. After unsuccessful attempts in France due to his residence abroad, he decided to focus on Indonesia. He started with buying, renovating, and renting apartments and houses in Jakarta. Then, in 2014, he quickly became interested in Bali, acquiring a villa in one of the most touristy areas. This first experience marked the beginning of his activity. He launched his YouTube channel, @laurentmio, where he shares his experiences as an investor. The public response was immediate, and several wealth managers in France contacted him to become their consultant on-site. Simultaneously, Laurent provided advice to one of the largest real estate developers on the island, collaborating on large-scale projects.

Founding MIO&PARTNERS.

In 2019, with his experience and noticing the lack of specialized advice for French-speaking expatriates in Bali, Laurent decided to found MIO&PARTNERS. Unlike traditional agencies, their approach is tailored to the needs and goals of clients. They stand out for their market expertise and reliable partner network, allowing them to offer personalized solutions to investors. The process begins with an in-depth consultation, analyzing clients’ needs, budgets, and goals. They provide a detailed analysis of the Balinese real estate market, highlighting opportunities and potential risks. They search for the ideal property, negotiate with owners, and oversee all administrative and legal steps to ensure a secure transaction. Post-acquisition, MIO&PARTNERS coordinates construction or renovation, markets the property, and manages rentals.

MIO&PARTNERS’ personalized approach and expertise sets them apart. Laurent, being a very active investor in the Bali market, created this company for investors like himself. Their clientele is 70% French-speaking, including Swiss, French, Canadians, Belgians, expatriates, and residents interested in Bali’s attractive returns. Typically, they are mature profiles with prior real estate experience, seeking a life change or an additional income source.

Market Trends and Communication

The real estate market in Bali is experiencing dynamic growth, driven by increasing tourist demand and growing interest in real estate investments. The island offers a unique combination of cultural richness and beach life, attracting millions of visitors worldwide each year. In 2023, Bali recorded an exceptional average of 500,000 visitors per month. The market stands out for its attractive returns, with high-end properties offering average profitability rates between 11% and 15% net per year. MIO&PARTNERS communicates with clients through transparency and education, using their YouTube channel “LAURENT MIO” to share investor experiences and educational videos on real estate investment and market trends. Most clients contact them after discovering their videos, appreciating the transparent and educational approach.
